Cold Wave

about

This song was inspired by the author, William Gibson, who was in Montreal February 5th to speak at Concordia University. He tweeted (@GreatDismal) about his packing dilemmas and solution, and I kind of ran with it. But it's all my fault.

Recorded in GarageBand using a Teenage Engineering OP-1 and MicroKORG in February 2015 for FAWM.

lyrics

Cold Wave

So, he decided to go to Montréal in February
It's not the most climatically welcoming town in February
I mean, I lived there for years, and to be quite honest, there are plenty of months that aren't exactly fun for humans.
But, you know, you do what you gotta do.

So, Montréal in February? Three words: Sorel, Primaloft, packable down. OK four words.
Because Sorels are what savvy Canucks have put on their feet for the past 50 years--I mean, who better than Canadians to know what to wear to keep your feet comfortable when it's minus-fucking-20 degrees in Montréal?

Exactly.

Well and then the Primaloft was developed by the US government during the cold war--get it?
And then packable down is just what it sounds like.
Good stuff.

But I mean it was down to minus-24 when he was there--and in Vancouver it was...like, freaking 15 degrees above? waaah.
I don't even think Vancouver's part of Canada, sometimes.

(I'm cold)
(j'ai froid)
