This track was created for the FediVision2023 song contest on the Fediverse (Mastodon). There were 43 entries this year! This song received some number <13 votes, but I am just glad to have been part of it. I learned about the contest about three weeks before the deadline to submit, when I had about two weeks of non-negotiable other activities to be done. Entries had to be songs that had not been previously published, which made my FAWM 2023 efforts invalid, so I had to come up with something new!

This song was largely triggered by the Apple TV series, Extrapolations, which explores some possible (largely terrifying) climate futures. I mean, if you are not concerned about the state of the planet, you are not paying attention. But to me, the overriding mood of Eurovision is optimism, so this song finds something to be hopeful about in love.

I wrote this song in GarageBand on iPad and Mac, using manual inputs, synths from my Nord Lead 2, Korg Nanokey, and some GarageBand loops and drums, as well as multiple vocal tracks (as I am wont). This version of the song has been mixed by Scott Smigiel to a higher level than the (deadline-limited) one I submitted for Fedivision. Follow me on the Fediverse @bittersweetdb@mastodon.social!
